Airport Transfers and Local Transport
A taxi rank operates 24 hours a day outside all terminals. A taxi trip between Fremantle city centre and Perth domestic or international airport terminals will take approximately 50 minutes depending on the day and time of day you are travelling. All taxis are meter operated by time and distance, and operate twenty four hours a day 7 days a week.
Transperth is the local transport authority that operates a bus service from the airport to the City. For public transport options to and from all terminals visit the Perth Airport website or the Transperth website or phone the Transperth Infoline on 13 62 13.
myAirshuttle offer direct transport from central Fremantle to both the domestic and international Perth Airport terminals. Trains and buses
Fremantle Train Station and Bus Port provide direct walking access to Fishing Boat Harbour, museums and galleries, the shopping district, cinemas, the Cappuccino strip and restaurants.
Trains to and from Perth operate from the Fremantle Train Station by Transperth, with buses connecting to meet with trains. There are bus stops in and around the city making it easy to get around. Visit the Transperth website for schedules and service interruptions.
Free CAT bus
Two free Central Area Transit (CAT) buses operate in the Fremantle area and are free to board for all passengers. The blue CAT Services depart every 10 minutes and the red CAT services depart every 15 minutes. Both services run 7 days a week, except on Good Friday, Christmas Day and Boxing Day.
The services go to places of interest in the central Fremantle area, including the Fremantle Train Station, Fremantle Arts Centre, Fremantle Leisure Centre, the Maritime Museum, E-Shed Markets, the Cappuccino strip and the Fremantle Fishing Boat Harbour.
All Fremantle CAT buses are modern and high–tech, complying with the stringent EURO2 emission standards. They are easily accessible with kneeling actions – a driver activated entry ramp and low floor. To board, simply wait at any CAT stop shown on the Fremantle CAT timetable.

Although Fremantle is built on a series of hills, the most interesting parts of the city – the city centre, the historic West End precinct, Fishing Boat Harbour, Swan River and the beaches of Leighton, Port and South Fremantle – are all reasonably level and easily accessible by bike. Dedicated bicycle lanes throughout the city and shared cycle paths running north, south and along the river make it easy for cyclists to move around.
The City of Fremantle’s Free Wheeling Fremantle initiative, is a free bike hire service suitable for adults and teens. You can use the bikes anywhere in the Fremantle area, allowing you to explore the city at your own leisurely pace.
Bikes are available from Wednesday to Sunday, 9.00 am-5.00 pm from outside the Fremantle Visitor Centre.
Fremantle is a pedestrian friendly city with a range of walking trails to suit all interests. The Cappuccino Strip, Fishing Boat Harbour and West end precinct are popular tourist areas easily connected and accessible by foot.
A variety of self-guided walking trails within the Fremantle CBD are available on the Visit Fremantle website or from the Fremantle Visitor Centre.
The local beaches and parks located within the City of Fremantle also provide scenic and mostly accessible walking routes for residents and visitors to enjoy.
Designated taxi ranks can be found throughout Fremantle and offer safe and convenient travel. Taxi rank locations include:
- Adelaide Street, opposite St John’s Church
- Collie Street next to Esplanade Hotel Fremantle-by Rydges
- Fremantle Railway Station.
Fremantle is a busy entertainment precinct from Thursday to Sunday nights. A secure taxi rank operates from 11 pm to 6 am on Friday and Saturday nights at the Henderson Street Mall.

Registration fees do not include insurance of any kind. It is strongly recommended that all delegates take out their own travel and medical insurance prior to coming to the Conference. The policy should include loss of fees/deposit through cancellation of your participation in the Conference, or through cancellation of the Conference itself, loss of airfares for any reason, medical expenses, loss or damage to personal property, additional expenses and repatriation should travel arrangements have to be altered. None of the Conference Secretariat, the Host or the Organising Committee will take any responsibility for any participant failing to insure. Please speak to your travel agent or airline in regard to this matter.
The Conference Organisers recognise that some delegates may have special dietary needs. Please advise the Conference Secretariat either via the registration form or via email if you wish for them to accommodate your dietary requirements.
Please Note: Dietary requirements received less than 72 hours prior to the event cannot be guaranteed. Kosher meals may be available, however due to kosher compliance requirements please note these will be at an additional cost.
Western Australia’s smoking laws aim to protect children and adults from the harmful consequences of passive smoking and target the promotion of tobacco products. Food businesses, tobacco retail outlets and the general public should be aware of these smoking laws, include the following:
- ban on the display of tobacco products and smoking implements in retail premises, but allows “specialist retailers” to continue displaying tobacco
- ban on smoking in all outdoor eating areas (i.e, public place provided on a commercial basis where people eat or drink sitting at tables e.g. restaurants, hotels, cafes, and food outlets). Note – liquor licensed premises that are not the subject of a restaurant licence may allocate a smoking zone up to 50% of all outdoor areas, provided the area is not already an “enclosed public place.” Note – staff in a liquor licensed premise must not be forced to provide service in a smoking zone and cannot be dismissed for refusing to do so
- ban on smoking in cars with children under 17 years present ban on smoking within 10 metres of children’s playground equipment
- ban on smoking between the flags of patrolled beaches.

COF_Public, a free wireless internet (wifi) service provided by the City of Fremantle can be accessed in many public areas of Fremantle and are highlighted on this Map. Download restrictions do apply to this service.
Some cafes, restaurants and accommodation venues also offer free wifi to their customers. Access to this service is generally password protected.
